Hermès was founded in 1837 in Paris, France, as a workshop specializing in the production of harnesses. Anticipating a decline in the use of horse-drawn carriages after the development of automobiles, Hermès began to focus on the production of wallets and handbags in the 1890s, and achieved success. on.

Brand history
Hermès was founded in 1837 by Thierry Hermès, who opened a harness manufacturing company in Paris. Later Napoleon III of France and the Russian Emperor became their customers.

Emile-Maurice Hermès (1871-1951), the grandson of Thierry and the third generation of the company's head, moved his business toward more kerangular management. Beginning in the 1890s, based on the technique of harness making, Hermès produced the first handbag "Sac haut-à-croire". The watch was introduced in 1927. Since then, clothing, jewelry and ornaments, perfumes, and has successively expanded its production departments. The design, manufacture and sale of all products are all planned by the company as a whole, and they are taken care of by one hand without faking the hands of others.

In the 1920s, Hermès actively expanded the production routes of handbags, travel bags, gloves, belts, jewelry, notebooks, watches, ashtrays, silk scarves, etc., and also opened its first overseas store in New York, entering another milestone.

After Robert Dumas took over in the 1950s, he successively introduced new products such as perfumes, ties, suits, shoes, shower towels, porcelain, jewelry, men's and women's clothing, watches and table jewelry, making Hermès truly a representative of taste across all aspects of life.

After obtaining the authorization of John Lobb Shoe Factory in 1975, many other excellent brands including boots, fabrics and hats were acquired by Hermès.

In 2002, French designer Pierre Hardy began working as artistic director of the jewelry department.

In 1920, Hermès established a jewellery division and pioneered the "collier de chien" necklace and the "Filet de selle" bracelet.

In Hermès' 14 businesses, leather products are ranked first in order of importance, followed by silk and garments, watchmaking ranks fourth, followed by perfumes, tableware, gold and silver utensils, crystals and jewelry. In 2002, French designer Pierre Hardy began working as artistic director of the jewelry department, and his arrival injected a new element into Hermès jewelry.

Laurence Reulet, Chief Operating Officer of Hermès Global Jewelry, once commented: "Pierre Hardy is a very balanced designer, combining Hermès' classic elements and quality symbols with highly contemporary designs, making the brand's jewelry products a work of art rather than a pure consumer product."

Between 2002 and 2006, hermès jewellery was mostly made in gold and silver, handcrafted by artisans, often with intricate details and a strong sense of sculpture. In 2010, Hermès commissioned Pierre Hardy to design fine jewellery for the first time, and as of 2015 Pierre Hardy has completed three sets of fine jewelry for Hermès.

In the collection, first released in 2010, Pierre Hardy used "Horse Whip" and "Horseshoe" as creative inspiration to present a total of 14 jewelry pieces. In 2012, Pierre Hardy transformed the brand's classic Birkin and Kelly in gold and diamonds.

In 2014, Hermès released its third collection of fine jewellery, pierre Hardy took inspiration from the brand's most iconic equestrian themes and silk scarves, incorporating Hermes' signature leather materials - small goatskinsuede, and colored sapphires, black spinels, pearls, to create bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, headwear and other pieces.

Unlike other jewelry brands, Hermès creates jewelry by designing the jewelry and then cutting the gemstones, rather than designing the style in the most efficient way based on the size of the gemstones. After completing the design sketch, the designer has to discuss with the craftsman many times about the jewelry category, color, and presentation of the work, and each piece of fine jewelry requires at least 1,000 hours of manual completion.
