Brand profile

Christian Dior, or Dior for short, is a French luxury brand founded in 1946 by French fashion designer Christian Dior, headquartered in Paris, the brand's product line includes fashion, perfumes, cosmetics, jewelry, watches, glasses and so on. In 1998, Dior founded the jewelry division.

Brand history

Born in Normandy, France in 1905, Christian Dior moved with his family to Paris in 1910.

Christian Dior graduated from Sciences Po, but never gave up his passion for the arts. He began painting for Le Figaro in 1935, joined Robert Piquet in 1938 as an assistant designer, and worked with Pierre Balmain in 1942, by which time Christian Dior had mastered the art of fashion design and structure.

In 1946, Christian Dior opened his first Dior boutique on the Avenue Montaigne in Paris, which was decorated in the style of Christian Dior's favorite gray and white colors and the French Louis XVI style.

In 1947, Christian Dior opened his first haute couture show, launching a collection called "New Look", which broke the conservative and stereotypical lines of women's clothing after World War II.

In the same year, the first perfume named "Miss Dior" was introduced.

In 1948, Christian Dior opened a second Dior boutique at the junction of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in New York, and has since expanded to Cuba, Mexico, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and other countries.

In 1953, Christian Dior hired Yves Saint-Laurent as his only design assistant. When Christian Dior died of a heart attack in 1957, Yves Saint-Laurent took over as Dior's artistic director.

In 1965, the LVMH Group acquired Dior.

Dior jewelry

In 1998, Dior founded the jewelry department, with Victoire de Castellane as Director of the Jewelry Department.

In 1999, Dior launched the "Jardin de Milly-la-Forêt" collection, inspired by Christian Dior's private gardens, combining gold and ancient lacquer techniques to create jewelry pieces.

In 2003, Dior launched the "Mitza" series, paying tribute to Christian Dior's inspirational muse, Mitzah Bricard. Since Mitzah Bricard often wraps a tulle scarf of a cheetah regiment around her wrist, the collection chooses "leopard print" as the main body of the design.

In 2007, the "Belladone Island" series was officially launched.

In 2009, Dior launched the "Reines et Rois" series, which consisted of 20 pieces, including 10 queen-shaped rings and ten king-shaped pendants.

In 2012, the "My Dior" series was officially launched, using the Dior brand's classic element "Cannage" rattan check to create earring jewelry.

In 2014, Dior launched the Archi Dior Fine Jewelry collection, inspired by the silhouette of the brand's haute couture garments, in which the "Bar en Corolle Émeraude" bracelet showcases the bracelet silhouette through a jeweled belt.
