Jewelry' Laings presents Fabergé collaboration Thistle Surprise Easter Egg Pendant: the national flower of Scotland

Oct 6, 2022

Scottish jeweler Laings has just partnered with Russian jeweler Fabergé to celebrate the brand's 180th anniversary with a new "Fabergé Essence" pendant. The biggest highlight of the new work is the Easter egg hiding a Scottish national flower, "Thistle Flower", which pays tribute to the Scottish origin of the Laings family.

The relationship between Thistle and Scotland dates back to the 13th century, and legend has it that a Nordic Viking army prepared to attack Scotland at night, but a Viking accidentally stepped on the spike of "Thistle" and screamed in pain, which alerted Scottish soldiers to the invaders and successfully prepared for defense. The Scots therefore regarded the "thistle" as a symbol of national fortitude against foreign invasion, and the Scottish Chevalier was also designed as a thistle motif.

This new work still continues the shape of a surprise egg, with a diamond set on a mirror-polished golden egg as an opening button. The top ring of the egg is also set with diamonds, which become the finishing touches of the decoration.

Gently open the Easter egg, an thistle flower comes into view - the corolla is made of nearly 80 slightly curled purple filigree, and the filigree is dotted with 3 gold beadsGreen spiky leaves are shaped on the green flower stems, which are vivid and refined in style.

Limited edition of 5 pieces.
